United Colors at District20

Showing Off Sami's Booty

The District20 event has kicked off in Second Life. District 20 is a new monthly shopping event in Second Life, created by a collaboration of folks from a number of other popular events, and is meant as an exclusive shopping event that rewards people the more they shop.  From the District20 website:
"When you purchase items marked as District 20 Exclusive at the event venue, you receive a points HUD. With that HUD you will redeem points to your account. Once you accumulate a certain amount of points you can start to redeem them for gift cards and prizes from our District 20 participating brands. Subscribing to the District 20 VIP group every month will not only reward you with more points, but gives you access to shop early, a 5% discount off the District 20 Exclusive items, as well as access to giveaways, raffles and daily spins on our prize wheel."
Sami and I did join the group for this first month to see what the rewards are like, and see if the 250 L$ join fee turns out to be worth it. You do need to re-join the group each month to get access to the 5% discount and other "perks". You can visit the main kiosk location in Second Life to get more information and join the group. One issue we did encounter was that some of the point HUDs did not work. If you encounter this get in touch with the creator of the item for a fix.

We went to the event during the early access time available to those that join the group and looked around. The sim is nicely laid out with stores arranged all around the outer edge. It looks like there are two levels of stores possible so there is plenty of space for this event to grow. It was a little laggy, even though the sim wasn't busy, but the layout makes camming around very easy. The idea behind the event does have a bit of a unique feel to it. I look forward to seeing how it develops, but lets get on to the review!

Blenda Dress by United Colors

Typical of United Colors (UC) the Blenda dress comes with a HUD which allows you to change a number of the textures. Sami and I both purchased the fatpack of the dress so have the full compliment of options (fatpack HUD shown below). This dress comes with three texture options for the full dress. A sheer lace, shown on Sami in the red, a solid lace shown on Butta in the pink, and an unpatterned solid. In addition to changing the texture of the dress, the HUD lets you enable/disable materials and change the color of the accent on the dress. Each texture option comes in 8 colors, and the accent can be changed to any of 8 matching colors. There is a accent across the chest at the top of the dress that is textured as either gold or silver depending on the base color you choose. You cannot change this part via the HUD.

United Colors HUD for Blenda Dress - Lace Texture Option Selected
The dress itself comes to mid thigh, and is generally very well made. Sizes are included for Maitreya, Bellleza and Slink bodies. The dress moves as you would expect a dress of this style. It is well rigged and the texture stretching and mesh breakage when you move or pose is there but quite minimal. I do notice a few areas that poke through during some of my AO movements which could benefit from some alpha use under the dress when not using the sheer texture.

I really like the dress. It fits well, the textures are nice and the opaque option makes the dress far more useful. The sheer dress shows off just enough to be sexy without giving away the full picture. There is a jacket that pairs perfectly with the dress, but it was unavailable when we were there.

Morgan Hair by Doe at Whimsical

Doe Morgan Hair v2
The Morgan Hair is a gacha available at the November round of the event Whimsical. Sami and I are more than a little addicted to Doe's gacha hair. We are of the impression that Helyanwe Vindaloo, the creator of Doe hair, is some sort of android since she manages to put out sooooo many cute hair styles. The Morgan hair comes in two similar styles, version one has a pony tail in the pack with some hair over the left shoulder. Version two has the same hair over the shoulder but is pulled up into a bun in the back. The included style HUD switches between a smaller and large breast option for the hair. Both fit and move well and are available in her normal set of HUDs. Unlike a lot of her hair though, the Morgan is not available in a two-tone style.

That is it for this post!! Thanks for reading and check back soon for more content and reviews.

From now on just call me Butta Liarpants because guess what? I bought the January Luxebox . Yes I said I wasn't going to, but hear me out. I really wanted to see what would happen with the changes that the Luxebox team made for 2018. The big changes for this year are dropping the number of designers down to eight and dropping the price to just 1000 L$ per month. So? Did they really listen, did they do enough. Will the new year bring a renewed "Luxe" to this aging...

Sami's Review: January - Luxe Box: Ariskea, Ison, Lamb & Rowne

I know I know...I said I wasn't going to buy this months Luxe Box!!  Look, I'm a female and I reserve the right to change my mind, however many times I feel like it mmmmk?! lol  In all seriousness, yes, mine and Butta's plan was to not  purchase this months box.  However, we saw that there were some fairly big changes this round, so we wanted to give it another chance and see how well the changes work out.  What changes?  Well for starters, at least for this round, they removed a designer or two (who shall remain nameless) that was producing well below par items for it's subscribers.  Big plus there!  They also limited the amount of the items in the box, down to just 8 items instead of 12.  Perhaps with a smaller panel of designers, the quality and variety of items will be better and make us happy?  They also lowered the price from L$1500 to just L$1000, which is only fair since you are getting 4 less items now.  So, way to go Lu...
