Showing Off Sami's Booty |
The District20 event has kicked off in Second Life. District 20 is a new monthly shopping event in Second Life, created by a collaboration of folks from a number of other popular events, and is meant as an exclusive shopping event that rewards people the more they shop. From the District20 website:
"When you purchase items marked as District 20 Exclusive at the event venue, you receive a points HUD. With that HUD you will redeem points to your account. Once you accumulate a certain amount of points you can start to redeem them for gift cards and prizes from our District 20 participating brands. Subscribing to the District 20 VIP group every month will not only reward you with more points, but gives you access to shop early, a 5% discount off the District 20 Exclusive items, as well as access to giveaways, raffles and daily spins on our prize wheel."Sami and I did join the group for this first month to see what the rewards are like, and see if the 250 L$ join fee turns out to be worth it. You do need to re-join the group each month to get access to the 5% discount and other "perks". You can visit the main kiosk location in Second Life to get more information and join the group. One issue we did encounter was that some of the point HUDs did not work. If you encounter this get in touch with the creator of the item for a fix.
We went to the event during the early access time available to those that join the group and looked around. The sim is nicely laid out with stores arranged all around the outer edge. It looks like there are two levels of stores possible so there is plenty of space for this event to grow. It was a little laggy, even though the sim wasn't busy, but the layout makes camming around very easy. The idea behind the event does have a bit of a unique feel to it. I look forward to seeing how it develops, but lets get on to the review!
Blenda Dress by United Colors
Typical of United Colors (UC) the Blenda dress comes with a HUD which allows you to change a number of the textures. Sami and I both purchased the fatpack of the dress so have the full compliment of options (fatpack HUD shown below). This dress comes with three texture options for the full dress. A sheer lace, shown on Sami in the red, a solid lace shown on Butta in the pink, and an unpatterned solid. In addition to changing the texture of the dress, the HUD lets you enable/disable materials and change the color of the accent on the dress. Each texture option comes in 8 colors, and the accent can be changed to any of 8 matching colors. There is a accent across the chest at the top of the dress that is textured as either gold or silver depending on the base color you choose. You cannot change this part via the HUD.
United Colors HUD for Blenda Dress - Lace Texture Option Selected |
I really like the dress. It fits well, the textures are nice and the opaque option makes the dress far more useful. The sheer dress shows off just enough to be sexy without giving away the full picture. There is a jacket that pairs perfectly with the dress, but it was unavailable when we were there.
